Trafalgar Square

We spend some time wondering around Trafalgar Square, which contains a number of statues and monuments.   Most notably is the Nelson Column, which is guarded by four bronze lions (Nelson died in the Battle of Trafalgar during the Napoleonic Wars; the monument's bronze parts are made from captured French canon).

The ornate National Gallery facade occupies one side of the square.  At the other end sits the Admiralty Arch, and through it we get a glimpse of The Mall.
