Here is the OSCAR code, in .zip format. It comes complete with a set of analysis and perf arrays created through the analysis of a dozen Bach fugues. This is not an executable. To run OSCAR, you'll need the following:

  A system capable of running PD (Windows 95, 98, or NT, Linux, etc. OSCAR was built and tested on Windows 98). The more memory, the better.

  A MIDI controller

  A MIDI sound module, or software capable of understanding translating MIDI into audio (e.g. Quicktime)

  PD version .34.1 or greater
  If you're using an earlier version of PD, you'll also need the IEM library of externals

  The ZEXY library of externals

PD, the ZEXY and IEM libraries, and instructions on how to install and configure PD are all available at The Pure-Data Website.

To download OSCAR, click here. Unzip this file to your PD directory. Shorcuts to the files to open are at the top of the directory, and are called "OSCAR_Ears" and "OSCAR_Hands." Good luck!
